In collaboration with Kanika Jain (Make-up) and Gishant Chopra (Photography)…
The Ruffle trend is back and how! With the biggest brands taking a wavy ride this Spring-Summer’17 show season, the Ruffle trend has become one of the greatest hits. Thinking that it’s not for you, already? Well, there’s a ruffle for everybody – big, small, structured, and flowing; get surprised as everything gets a frill-filled makeover.
Working with the team, I created two looks – one with a ruffled top and the other with a ruffled bottom. There may be a million ideas on the trend, but for now let’s address the ruffles in the room.
Look 1
The Outfit – Being a sucker for feminine silhouettes, I decided to create the first look around a pink skirt with ruffled hemline. The suede skirt enjoyed all the limelight, for the white tank top did not ask for any. The studded sling in a complementary colour adds to the beauty of the outfit. The shoes have been chosen from the lighter colour palette, so that they do not interfere with the look.
Top: Zara
Skirt: Mask
Shoes: Fuel
Bag: Chumbak
The Makeup – Kanika, an artist at Sephora, has given me a basic day make-up look with nude eye-shadow and generous amounts of mascara. Natural blush and contour helps you look fresh as a daisy even in the summer heat. The subtle look is perfect for a brunch date with your girlfriends.
Look 2
The Outfit – Edgy is sexy! As I said, the ruffle trend is for everybody; you don’t have to conceal your inner bad girl to fit in. Taking a top with ruffles adorning the sleeves and neckline, I paired it up with black overalls. Pointy black brogues bestow the much needed edge, giving the look an entirely new definition.
Top: Street Find
Overalls: Forever 21
Shoes: H&M
The Makeup – Keeping ‘edgy’ in mind, Kanika has given me dewy lids in bold colours. Switching to the darker palette, she has used the shades that go well with my outfit. Completing the look, I’ve been given peach blush, rose-gold highlight and red lips.
